A Few Highlights from the LAunch

Taking breath following our launch event for Pick n Pay Connect, we are thrilled with the feedback and glad so many people found it an informative day. Thanks to everyone for making the effort to attend. 

Pick n Pay Connect will bring brands closer to Pick n Pay customers than ever before. 

Reflecting on the day, we heard from: 

Sean Summers, CEO of Pick n Pay about the challenges and successes of the next phase of the Pick n Pay turnaround journey, the absolute focus on People and Product, and their continued desire to serve the people of South Africa. 

Kathryn Madley, CMO shared her insights on marketing best practice and the role of retail media as part of Pick n Pay’s growth strategy. 

Vince Viviers inspired with his plans and case studies around transformation and innovation, enabling shoppers to have the very best experience through whichever channel they choose to engage. 

Mike Smollan gave a passionate introduction to GIG Retail as part of the Smollan Group and the full-service retail solution it unlocks, connecting media, data, technology and operational effectiveness. 

Adam Smith outlined Pick n Pay Connect’s retail media proposition and the new omnichannel media planning and measurement capability. He showcased the strong existing retail media portfolio and provided an insight into future innovation that will deliver increased scale, smarter audience targeting and new brand-friendly formats to enhance the customer experience and deliver long term brand growth opportunities.  

A big thanks to Themba Robin, our Master of Ceremonies who did an incredible job to link the whole event together while entertaining our audience.

Re-launching Pick n Pay Connect

We are delighted to introduce the new Pick n Pay Connect - Pick n Pay’s dedicated retail media hub. Connect is a one-stop-shop for retail media, enabling brands to build presence, engage customers, drive product sales and measure the results.

Pick n Pay have partnered with UK-based retail media specialist, GIG Retail to relaunch Connect, enabling brands to get closer to customers by working closer with Pick n Pay. Through joint business plans and omnichannel media planning, facilitated by a new booking-to-billing media platform, media activations will be more impactful and more relevant to customers than ever before.

GIG are owned by South African retail powerhouse, Smollan - a collection of agencies each with their own expertise in retail supply, from strategy to branding, merchandising to data management. Their combined skillset enables Pick n Pay to deliver a world-class retail media opportunity.

With customer needs at the heart of business planning and with media planned to optimally deliver against marketing objectives, investment will deliver uplifts in performance, measurability and accountability, while enhancing the customer experience at every touchpoint.
